Aged Care and Community Lunch

Sadly, we are farewelling Rev Paul Perini, who has been assisting us with the aged care ministry the past few months. Paul has demonstrated warmth and humour, and the residents in the three homes we visit have all responded so well to him. The photos attached show Paul at the Young Street aged care service recently.

Here is what Ellie who works at Vaucluse Nursing Home (Young St) said about Paul:

“It is saddening to bid farewell to dear Paul Perini. I wish him all the best in his new position. May the Lord bless Paul for bringing joy and making a difference for our residents through sharing the good news, visiting, prayers, music, and hymns. God bless you all for your service, care, and kindness towards our residents.”

Paul has accepted a locum position with his church in the Inner West, so is unable to continue with our Aged Care services on Tuesday. We wish Paul and his wife Michele our very best wishes and heartfelt thanks.

The next SHAP Community Lunch is fast approaching. Wednesday 3rd July will see us celebrating all things Scottish, with our very own live bagpiper! Some of the St Michaels singers will help with the singing, and as usual we will be spoilt with delicious food (no, not haggis) and creative decorations. Please do come along and share in this happy occasion, and bring a friend or neighbour!

We received great news recently that we have been awarded, for the third year in a row, a Community Grant from Woollahra Council to help us with the catering costs for our Community Lunches. The grant, coupled with the incredible generosity of the volunteers, helps to keep our lunch charge to the unbelievably low cost of $5. Please spread the word that Community Lunch is the place to be for community connection, entertainment and wonderful food.
