Buchanan Family on Home Assignment

One of the joys of coming back for Home Assignment is meeting up with supporters, people who have prayed faithfully individually, in groups, and in church. Our official schedule is listed below, but we are happy and available to meet at other times as well. We are settling into a weekly routine and gradually working through the various CMS processes involving medical and personal care and our ministry. Andrew was encouraged by a warm response to his invitation for an elders’ Bible study online, but finding a suitable time will be harder!

Back in Toraja, Andrew’s campus (IAKN Toraja) has entered a new four-year leadership period. The new rector, Dr Agustinus, is an ordained minister in the KIBAID church. This denomination is focused on Toraja like the Church of Toraja, but self-identifies as evangelical, having been established by American rather than Dutch missionaries. Having someone from outside the Church of Toraja is a change, but the campus is run by the government and so is non-denominational. In any case, two of the three deans who are immediately under him are members of the Church of Toraja (and are former students of Andrew). Andrew asked him for some prayer points for this newsletter, and he mentioned development of faculty and support staff, as well as the goal of becoming a full-scale university. He is familiar with head office (i.e., the Protestant bureau of the Department of Religious Affairs), and has visited many other campuses as an assessor for accreditation. His experience will be an asset that is needed as the campus increases in size and complexity.
