Ladies Night A Great Night Out!

On Tuesday night this week, 35 women of South Head gathered on a wet evening at the St Peter’s hall for a wonderful time of connection, supper and hearing stories from some of our women. The evening started with a great buzz as people met old friends and made new ones, over wine and delicious savoury snacks. It was hard to break up the fervent conversations to actually call us all together for the main event… interviews with some of our own women in ministry at South Head.

Meg started off with an interview with Jamie Irwin, our newish assistant minister. We heard about her growing up, becoming a Christian in the last years of high school – thanks to the prayerful persistence of her friend Em – and how she went on to study Bible and ministry which eventually led her… to us! What a blessing she is proving to be, in her Kambala high school ministry as well as a range of ministry opportunities at South Head.

Tanya came next as she interviewed Maddy Edwards. We heard about the family she grew up in, and her patient parents who rode out some rocky teen years with Maddy. Plus about the crossroad she came to, when she decided, like the prodigal son, to come home to the Father, Her life of christian discipleship took off from there. Maddy trained and worked for some years as a high school English and Drama teacher. She told us about how she met Tim (somewhat hilarious, but what goes on at Ladies Night stays at Ladies Night…), and as they say, the rest is history. Two little boys later, they now live in the newly renovated Curate’s cottage on site at St Peter’s.

And finally, Suzie interviewed Kass Aroney. We learnt a bit about her family growing up, and how she decided where she would study Education (partly because Matt was doing a similar course and she fancied him just a bit). Kass became a high school Maths teacher, learning support teacher and head of department in her 14 year (so far) teaching career. She is now mum to three gorgeous little kids and the family lives next to the Edwards on the St Peter’s site. Instant playgroup!

Unfortunately, Meg Weston, our beautiful Little Sheep leader, was unable to join us on the night. She, along with all the women interviewed, is a wonderful part of our life together at South Head.
