A piece written by Iszy on her experience of the Prayer for Healing Service

Philippians 4:6 says ‘Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.’

On Thursday evening last week on the 24th of November, twenty members of South Head Anglican gathered for our Prayer for Healing Service at St. Peter’s Watsons Bay. It was a sincere and genuine service with a chance for members of God’s family to come to Him in dependence through beautifully written liturgical prayers.

Led by Stuart Robinson, he led meaningful bible verses and prayers with God-glorifying hymns led by Ken Saurajen. It was a candid time of gathering to rely on our Heavenly Father for all our needs, an atmosphere filled with god’s caring love for those in need.

Towards the end, members came one by one, nine in total, to meet Stuart and Irene Jackson individually at the front of the church to present prayer requests. They laid hands on and prayed for each request, whether that be prayer for themselves, or friends or family members.

As a first timer to this event, I would say I thoroughly enjoyed being there, recognising my Father in Heaven who is our greatest provider.

We sung Before the Throne of God Above, and the night provided a beautiful chance to be reminded of our truest need of all things, Jesus himself, who has purchased us by his blood. With the lyrics:

‘One in Himself I cannot die
My soul is purchased by His blood
My life is hid with Christ on high,
With Christ my Saviour and my God!’
