That’s a wrap on the Alpha Course!

Over the past five weeks, we’ve had a wonderful time doing the Alpha Course at church! Together, nine of us tackled five big questions: How does God guide us in life? Why do we read the Bible? How do I pray? How can I resist evil? And what does it mean to be filled with the Holy Spirit?

One of the highlights was the rich discussion around the table, learning from one another and making space for honest questions. And, of course, the sandwiches! From a classic Reuben to chicken schnitzel toastie to a hot honey salami slider, we enjoyed plenty of delicious food and had a lot of fun getting to know each other.

In my two years at here church, I’ve been part of five courses and I’ve seen just how significant they can be. I’ve seen people come to faith for the first time, others take greater ownership of their faith, and others grow in their understanding and confidence in sharing the gospel.

I believe courses like Alpha and Taste & See are a vital part of how we pursue renewal as a church. We believe God renews us as we open his Word together, so that’s why we gather around the Bible in our courses. And as we pray for the renewal of our surrounding community, we want to invite people to come along to hear the good news of Jesus and discover the hope he offers.

These courses aren’t just for people new to Christianity. Wherever you are in your faith, there’s something to gain: new insights into the Bible, a deeper understanding of your personal relationship with God, and the opportunity to be equipped in sharing the gospel.

I’m looking forward to running Alpha and Taste & See again next year! Why not come along yourself, or invite a friend who’s curious about Christianity?

I’m excited to see these courses continue to be a regular part of our church life here on the South Head.
