Irene – Pastoral Care
Pastoral Care is an ongoing activity that flows with the attitude of loving one another as God loves us.  Much of pastoral care takes place on a one-to-one basis and goes on quietly behind the scenes.  However, sometimes several people are called to love and care for a particular person. This can take the form of providing meals, doing shopping, escorting to medical appointments and much more.
Working as a team with the attention being on one person calls for bringing people together and working out how best to support an individual.  Here we can have members of the team performing different roles /functions as we jointly walk together to encourage, uplift and edify.  As a team we are concerned with our brothers and sisters’ spiritual journey, being supported by God’s word and lead by the Holy Spirit, to sustain, guide, heal, nurture and build up.  We also celebrate successes and good times, triumphs, joys and victories.  Working as a team requires good communication, clear goals and knowing the boundaries and confidentiality with each other and the brother / sister we are supporting.  (Act 4:32; Acts 6:1-7; 1 Corinthians 16:1-3…)
The benefits to our brothers / sisters are that they feel cared for, loved, that they are not alone.  All this shows the “Heart of our Father God”.
